Design: (Describe product)
Product two is designed for a fourth grade language arts classroom. This power point presentation has a simple design and contains twelve slides. I included images from the book Weslandia by Paul Fleischman with illustrations by Kevin Hawkes. Other images included in the power point focus on the main theme in the book in which the students create their own civilization. Each slide allows for discussion which helps the students understand the main concept of the book.
Content Delivery: (How does the product support the content? Is the delivery better for a small group, whole group, individual, or center activity?)
The power point presentation was used to assist in leading a whole class discussion of the featured book titled Weslandia by Paul Fleishman. After reading aloud Weslandia, the presentation takes the students through a fun interactive discussion about the character and the main theme of the book. The power point was displayed on a large TV screen for all the students to view and participate.
Purpose: (Give the purpose for creating the product, ie: instructional input, reteaching, review, etc. Describe the technology integration. For example, did you use technology for business use, technology as topic, technology as content delivery, or technology as lesson support?)
|
The fourth grade students have been
currently working on concept character maps with the kidspiration program.
The purpose of the power point presentation was to focus on creating a
different kind of concept map based on the book. The power point provides
great examples and stimulates inventive ideas in order for the students to
create their own civilization concept map. The technology was used as
lesson support to provide students with a greater knowledge of being
resourceful when creating their own civilization.

Audience: (With whom did you use the product or intend to use it?)
The PUMA students are required to teach a reading lesson with technology integration. I was assigned to a fourth grade classroom that consisted of 23 students (15 boys and 8 girls). The children really enjoyed the book and had fun discussing the theme of the book with assistance from the power point presentation.
Relevance: (How is the product relevant to the needs of your classroom and/or lesson? Based on implementation, what would you change or modify?)
I met with the classroom teacher a week before the scheduled lesson to get ideas on what would be an appropriate lesson for her students. I was also required to incorporate listening and speaking reading objectives within the lesson. Since the students were already familiar with creating concept character maps I decided to incorporate a great read aloud for the students to listen and interpret. The power point presentation also gives the students the opportunity to expand their knowledge and creativity in creating their own civilization concept maps
