Valley Oaks Elementary

Does your school have a website? What is your school's website (URL)?      Valley Oaks has a school website that is accessible through the Spring Branch Independent School District website, or it can be reached through the school's URL.

http://www.springbranchisd.com/schools/elem/voe/index.html

What resources can be accessed from this site?      Many resources can be obtained through the school website. Parents and students can access the Valley Oaks Mission Statement, Awards and Celebrations earned by the staff, Neighborhood Involvement Activities, the Calendar, the Lunch Menu, the Dress Code, Enrollment Procedures, the SBISD Curriculum information, and Student/Campus Performance Statistics. They can also find biographical information about the teachers and future units of study for each grade.
Who is in charge of maintaining and adding information on the site?      The Instructional Technology Coach for Valley Oaks is Ms. Carlee Klam. She is the only one that can change or add things on the site. She tries to update it often.

Does the school highlight student work or special projects on the website?      Each grade at Valley Oaks has three links entitled "Meet the Teachers," "Units of study," and "Students at Work." The "Students at Work" link has pictures of students working on special projects or classwork.

Can teachers have a web page on this site? How many teachers in the school have a website? What types of information do the teachers have on their sites?       I was surprised to hear that no teachers have websites. Ms. Klam said that the Music teacher was interested in maybe creating one, but has not yet made one.
What information would be valuable on a teacher website?      A teacher could use a website for many things. It is the most effective if the students have internet access at home. A teacher can post homework assignments and links for further research or study in a unit studied in class. There can also be a calendar, notes to parents, contact information, a link to email the teacher, wish lists for the classroom, book lists, etc. The list is endless!
