Website Favorites

  • DiscoverySchool.com   http://school.discovery.com  I found this site to be full of helpful pages, in particular the page containing Teacher Lesson Plans.  This lesson plans included everything you might need to teach a particular theme. It starts with objectives and takes you through to extended reading for students to enjoy later.  There was also a wonderful page of clipart with animation, simple art, logos, and many other graphics for use in your classroom.  The site is very large with many different pages to choose from and incorporate the material into classrooms of all ages.

  • Marco Polo: Internet Content for the Classroom  http://www.marcopolo-education.org/  This website is primarily for teachers and includes Lesson Plans and Professional Development information.  It is easy to navigate through and will be very helpful for various teaching subjects; as well as for future teachers to keep abreast of ongoing educational improvement opportunities.

  • Ask Dr. Universe  http://www.wsu.edu/DrUniverse/  This website is one of my favorites for children because of the child-friendly graphics and the subject matter being interesting at any age.  Children can ask almost any question regarding science and the universe and an answer will be returned through Dr. Universe (the world's most curious cat) checking with the Washington State University's research department and e-mailing a reply.

  • OLOGY  http://ology.amnh.org  This website is for students and teachers.  There are activities for children to research through The American Museum of Natural History.  If students want to study a particular time in history they can become "ologists" for the day.  This site allows children to explore and share their natural curiosity and create projects for others to learn from and enjoy.

  • Eduhound-Everything for Education K12 http://www.eduhound.com  I really enjoyed browsing through this website.  It is comprehensive in that it covers almost everything a teacher may need for teaching or administrative purposes, it has activities and clipart for children to use and enjoy, and also has multiple links to other websites that can be used for classroom teaching themes.  Children will need to be supervised when they use this site as everything is not child-oriented.
