    http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/createagraph/default.aspx

An interactive tool for creating area graphs, bar graphs, horizontal bar graphs, line graphs, and pie charts. After selecting one of the types of graphs, there is an explanation to help the user decide if this is the correct graph for the given data.

After confirming the choice of graph, choose:
- the graph size (small, medium, or large)
- to make a 3D graph or not - the area color, the background color
- the image file type

    http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/chances/
This site allows students to see how graphs can be used in
probability.  Roll the dice to generate data and a graph.

    http://www.mathforum.org/mathworld/

At this site, middle school students are invited to solve open-ended word problems.  Challenges for students in grades 6-8 will be issued every nine weeks. Students are asked to follow a specific format:

    - write what you know about the problem (the facts)
- write what you are looking for (the questions)
- write all your problem-solving strategies
    - write your solutions (the answers)
    - explain how you checked your work
- extend the problem by writing a new problem based on the original

    http://www.mathforum.com/dr.math/
Participants use an on-line form or use the MathWorld Interactive
email address to submit their solutions. Sweepstakes winners
receive email award certificates. All students receive awards
highlighting their strengths and achievements posted online in the
MathWorld Interactive Hall of Fame.
