Courses and College Success
College Board is proposing to partner with the Houston Independent School District to serve North Region students aimed at: 1.
increasing the
academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education of North
Region students; 2.
increasing the rate
of high school graduation and participation in postsecondary education for
North Region students; and 3.
increasing the
students' and their families' knowledge of postsecondary education options,
preparation and financing. Tremendous Success
of Montgomery County Public Schools The document above
describes the tremendous success of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
in Rockville, Maryland. In 2001, 39% of kindergarteners were reading
simple text. Today, 88% enter first grade meeting or exceeding this
reading benchmark. Students throughout the county are reading at record
levels, closing the achievement gap by race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic
advantage in the early years. All 23 eligible
high schools were named among the top 3% in the nation by Newsweek magazine for the 4th consecutive year. The ranking is derived from the number of
Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate tests taken by all students
at a school, divided by the number of graduating seniors.
