| The
products you see on this page were designed to show my ability to use
Microsoft Publisher in order to create calendars and newsletters.
This project was
not difficult but it was definitely time consuming. I feel with
more practice I will soon be able to quickly produce a calendar and
newsletter that looks very professional and is very informative. I had
never used Publisher before, but luckily if you know how to use one
Microsoft Office program, you will more than likely be able to use
another. The commands are very similar, if not the same in most
cases.
My favorite thing
about this project is that I realized how useful a tool like this is.
Not only will this be extremely helpful in my classroom but this program
can be used for practically any reason! I can create
calendars to use for organizations I am involved with or even for
organizing my academic priorities.
Communication is a
very important element in many professions but especially in teaching.
I can use the calendars and newsletters to keep my students' parents
involved and up-to-date with what is happening in my classroom. A
lot of parents do not have the time to visit their child's classroom or
visit with the teacher and therefore often miss out on a lot of
important information. Most kids (and teens) often forget to
inform their parents of what is going on in school or what will be
happening later. This is the perfect reason why teachers should
send home these types of things to the parents. All the parent has
to do is take 15 minutes to sit down and read the handouts and he/she
will be well informed.
