Product Five : Publisher
REFLECTION
On product five we were instructed to construct a Newsletter and a Calendar using Microsoft Publisher. This program allowed us to customize our newsletters and calendars to meet our needs and wants, as well as our students. I enjoyed making these two products because I was able to pretend I actually had my own class and I was actually writing these things for my students.
I also had to do some research to make the newsletter. I had to organize my materials and look at my calendar to make sure that my newsletter corresponded to my calendar. I found some awesome graphics to use for my newsletter. One was a mask of Medusa and the other was an Aztec pyramid.
One thing that I had difficulty with was sitting down and deciding what will be taught when and how long to allow the students to finish their projects. I worried about the amount of work that I put down for the students to do. Although, I did think about using certain reading as required readings and others only when there is time.
I think that the calendar and newsletter would keep all the students and myself organized. Since I would present the newsletters and the calendar ahead of time, this would allow me to get a head start on research. It would also allow the students to know what is going to be discussed and the activities that will be done so, that they may be better prepared and ready. I think that a the beginning of the month I would sit down with the class and go over the newsletter and go over the material that will be presented that month.
